CRS 35 - Predawn Resupply
NASA and Space X CRS 35 using a cargo Dragon capsule is scheduled no earlier than 6:33AM EST from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Booster B1096 will push the cargo dragon in to orbit. B1096 will fly on its eighth flight previously flying on Amazon Leo KF01, IMAP, NROL-77, GPS III, Dragon CRS SpX 34, NROL-95, Starlink 6-87. This is the fourth flight to the International Space Station for Cargo Dragon 211.
Booster will return to launch site after stage separation and will land at landing zone 40 very near where it lifted off about 7 minutes and 21 seconds after launch greeting the residents and space fans of Titusville with twin sonic booms!
Aboard Cargo Dragon 211 will be food and resources for the crew aboard the ISS along with the Redwire's Roll Out Solar Array (ROSA) that will continue to enhance the ability of the ISS to create more efficient power to be able continue the research and development of new and emerging technologies, while also being mass and space efficient which are integral to the development of future ISS iniatives and also the future missions to the Moon and Mars.
Another study flying on SpX CRS 35 is from Langston University in Tulsa Oklahoma a HBCU university that won a contract from NASA in 2015 totaling 4.9 million dollars that according to Bryon Quinn, Biology chair at Langston University will study how "The immune system is compromised when you put humans in outer space environments". He went on to say “Some of the early missions to the moon, they found the astronauts were coming back with viruses they had when they were 5-6 years old, like the chickenpox. Viruses were coming back and amplifying to full infection levels.” While on the ISS this study will attempt to identify and learn about how the immune system is affected by being in a micro-gravity environment.
This Cargo dragon will return in the not too distant future post launch with trash and refuse from the ISS along with research that has been conducted and can now begin to be analyzed by researchers and scientists here on the home planet.
